September 3, 2024 | 1 comment

Caitlyn Marie Hauser, born on November 29, 1983, in Minneapolis, MN, passed away on August 27, 2024, in her hometown while visiting family. Caitlyn, affectionately known as Cait, was a vibrant spirit who touched the hearts of everyone she met. She was a devoted wife to Mike Hauser and beloved sister to Liz Hying, as well as a cherished daughter to Mark and Cathy Hying.

Caitlyn grew up in Minneapolis and graduated from South High School before joining the United States Air Force. A veteran and dedicated medical professional, Caitlyn served with distinction as an Aerospace Medical Journeyman in the United States Air Force and worked in various roles within the medical field, including as the Emergency Department Health Unit Coordinator at Oregon Health & Science University. Her compassion and dedication to helping others shone brightly and she was deeply admired by her beloved colleagues.

She worked and lived in Portland for many years with her husband and cats before moving to Dubuque, Iowa where she earned her Health Sciences degree at Clarke University.

Caitlyn’s love for life was reflected in her pastimes, which included playing volleyball for many years. She was a passionate reader and fan of hockey and baseball. Caitlyn loved doing puzzles and cuddling with her husband and beloved kittens, Jupiter and Marjorine. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and brought joy and laughter into the lives of those around her. Her incredible laugh and ability to tell funny stories made every gathering special.

She dreamt of visiting Ireland and retiring on a hobby farm with her sister, but no matter where she was, her greatest joy came from the connections she made. She embodied the motto, “Laugh loud and laugh often,” and her genuine, loving heart left an indelible mark on her family and friends. Although she was taken too soon, Caitlyn’s spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved her, reminding us all of the importance of kindness, laughter, and the bonds we share.

In her own words, “Light will often pierce the darkness when we least expect it. And if we’re fortunate, when we need it most. Science can pave the way, but we need human hands to guide us and love to illuminate the path that lies ahead.”

She was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Ellean Murray, and Cletus Hying and her father-in-law Rich Hauser.

She is survived by her husband Mike Hauser, parents Mark and Cathy Hying, sister Elizabeth (Liz) Hying, grandmother Joanna Hying, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, in-laws, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Noon at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be at the Hauser Cemetery with military honors.
