Phillipp L. Baker

Phillipp L. Baker, 81, passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Mulders in West Salem, after a long battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Phillipp was born in La Crosse County, WI to Bernice (Lovell) and Bernhard Baker on June 14, 1943. To close family and friends, he was known as Toad.

He married the love of his life, Eleanor (Zierfus) on August 17, 1964, and resided most of their life together in West Salem, WI. Phillipp enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 8, 1960, and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1966. He was employed by Lakeview Health Center for 33 years in the maintenance department.

Phillipp was a busy person and a man of many trades; anything from woodworking, electrical, mechanical to the do-it-yourself remodeler. He always gave a helping hand when needed to family, friends and neighbors. Phillipp enjoyed cheering on his favorite football team, the Packers, watching the History channel, MASH, and various game shows, he was also an avid reader. His favorite author is Stephen King which he had read all of his books. In earlier years he enjoyed fishing for catfish along the banks of the West Salem Dam and Lake Neshonic in West Salem.

Phillipp is survived by his wife, Eleanor, son; Daniel Baker, daughters; Debra Zierfus, Penny Carlston, Wendy (John) Ebata, Amy Baker and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Wally, Basil, Marlin, and Clayton, sisters; Elnor, Berdella, Bernetta, Verda and Doris. Grandson; Scott Zierfus. His favorite cat Sugar Baby.
