Obituary

Richard “Rick” Dean Stone

September 16, 2024 | 6 comments

Richard “Rick” Dean Stone, 59 of La Crosse, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024. Sadly, Rick lost his battle with addiction, something that he struggled with much of his life.

Rick was born June 29, 1965, in Dekalb, Illinois, to Elaine and Floyd Stone. Soon after, the family moved to La Crosse, where he grew up and spent most of his adult life.

Rick was a “Northsider”, through and through, where he made many lifelong friends. Rick worked as a carpenter. Whether building log cabins to furniture and decks, his craftsmanship was superb and well respected. He was well read. Rick was a history buff and loved to discuss politics. He was an avid chess player; few could beat him. In his free time, you could find him fishing. Always razor quick with the wit, blunt and to the point, offending a few, but making more laugh. He was hilarious and bright. A loyal son, brother, uncle, and friend; immensely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rick is survived by his parents Elaine and David Neumann of La Crosse; two sisters: Carol (Steve) Faas of La Crosse and Shelley (Tom) Fisher of Onalaska; two half-brothers: Patrick and Perry Stone of Waukon, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; his best
friend Dave Radtke; close friend Jodi Mikunda; and his cat Angil, whom he adored.

Rick was preceded in death by his father Floyd and his beloved brother Ron. A Celebration of Life for Rick will be held Saturday, September 21, 2024, from 1 until 6 pm at Copeland Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Coulee Recovery Center are appreciated.
