Onalaska, Wisconsin – Chris Zittel, 67, passed away on October 29th, 2024 at Hope Stay Assisted Living in Holmen, WI. He was born on February 5th, 1957 in Dubuque, IA to Alfred and Bernadine Zittel of Cassville, WI.

Chris was passionate about many things, including his beloved cartoons, sitcoms, Wisconsin sports, and game shows. He was an avid Onalaska football and basketball fan for many years, and he enjoyed cheering on the marching band and dance team, as well. Chris enjoyed spending time with family, going to parades, fireworks, riding on the pontoon, and spending time with the family dogs, Baxter and Griffin. To those who knew Chris well, his sometimes cheeky humor kept those around him laughing.

He is survived by his three sisters, Peggy (Paul Keith) Zittel, Elaine (Robert) Pike, Lisa (Rodney) Perry, one nephew, Ryan (Jamie) Pike, two nieces, Sara Pike and Emily (Nate Ganrude) Perry, one great niece, Bryn Pike, and three great nephews, Lucas and Owen Pike, and Elliot Perry-Ganrude.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, and stepmother, Marvilla Baecker-Zittel, as well as paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

There will be no celebration of life at this time per his wishes. A private family burial at the Cassville Catholic cemetery will be at a later date.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting his family.

Family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Gundersen Health System, St Croix Hospice, his social worker, Hope Stay, Country Terrace Assisted Living, Greendale Apartments, as well as the numerous people that have worked with him through his journey in the Onalaska area since 1997.

Please do something kind for another person today in Chris’s honor, and always remember that missing someone is sadness wrapped in the blessing of having known them.
