Larry Richard Thurston

December 30, 2024 | 1 comment

Larry Richard Thurston, 73, of Holmen, passed away Sunday, December 22nd at Gundersen Hospital in La crosse.

Larry was born February 2, 1951, to Richard and Betty (Ender) Thurston. He was very proud to have been a life-long trucker by trade. It was difficult for him in his later years when he was no longer able to drive.

He enjoyed WI sporting teams particularly supporting the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers. You could find him on game days “coaching “ from his living room. As an introvert, Larry often struggled to make connections. But if you were lucky enough to be in his inner circle, he was endearing, funny and would help you at a drop of a hat.

Alissa was blessed to have spent Larry’s last months advocating for his care, making sure his wishes were known and letting him know he was loved.

Larry is survived by daughter Jodi, step-children Alissa (Kris) Haines and David (Brook Auseth) Hutson, brothers Al(Susan) and Kevin(Amy), 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Richard and Betty, sister Linda and niece Loralei.

The family would like to thank Gundersen Hospital, particularly Dr Greg Knorr and nurse Hannah, and Onalaska Care Center where he spent 4 of his last 5 months. There will be a private family gathering at a later time.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family at this time.

Larry, we all had some really good times in Florida and West bend. You will be missed. Glad you are not suffering anymore. I’m sure DJ and I were in your inner circle. Much love. 🙏
