Obituary

Daniel Anthony Harkness

April 16, 2025 | 1 comment

Daniel Anthony Harkness was born on a beautiful warm evening, May 23rd,1987. The trees were budding their leaves and summer was on its way. He was so small he looked like a baby bird, born early – he was a Fighter. Dan’s attention to detail was extraordinary from an early age, he saw everything!

Dan always made friends quickly with his sense of humor, he loved to make people laugh and smile – The result was several lifelong dear friends surrounding him. He loved you all! He had a myriad of pets growing up, they all loved him. Most notably, his guy Peaches the Cat and gal, Kitty, who both preceded him in death. I truly hope they have been reunited.

Dan enjoyed working on bikes and creating new ones from boughten parts and recycled pieces. He loved kayaking and the peaceful exploration of the backwaters surrounding our area. He enjoyed listening to music, whether an album, live, or online, his taste in music was based more on compilation than genre, very eclectic. He was a moon tunes fan, always up for a concert! He loved going to concerts out of town as well. We spent many hours on the road to go hear bands, some of our most memorable times with Dan. Getting there and back was the most fun! Dan enjoyed thrifting for treasures, he would always find the most unique things to add to his collection. Recently with his girlfriend Xenia they would go to Anime conventions, the costumes were amazing, he had finally found his partner. We’re glad they had so many fun times. Dan’s passion was cooking; he made it his occupation. He enjoyed making wonderful food for his job and dinners for the people he loved.

Dan died on a very bitter cold morning January 19th, 2025. A normal day followed by a devastating find for Xenia when she went to check on him. Dan had a seizure and hit his head, a phone call no one wants to get. He left us all, but he was at home in his apartment, surrounded by his treasures and in the presence of his partner. His seizures will no longer plague him and he’s no longer in pain. He would want us to cherish each other and the energy we shared with him to move forward through this hardship. Please feel free to come to his Celebration of Life @ The Bluffside Tavern on 5/31/25 3-7 pm, 21+please, where we can have closure and fun in remembrance of Dan!

He is survived by parents, Iris and Tom Boots. Tim Harkness. Brother Derrick (Taylor) Harkness, Sister Desirae (Justin) Bahr Girlfriend Xenia Ibarra, Nephews Brighton Harkness, Wesley and Oliver Bahr. All of whom will miss him forever.
