Florence June Young, of La Crosse, WI, passed away peacefully at Bethany Riverside Nursing Home on July 9, 2025, at the age of 96.  Florence was born in Duluth, Minnesota on June 30, 1929, to Peter and Maude Beck.

Florence graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1947 and went on to pursue a career in Medical Technology.  She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree, in Medical Technology, from Hamline University. Florence worked as a Medical Lab Technologist at University Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis and then St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, WI.  She married Dean Young in La Crosse, WI, on October 8, 1955.  Together they owned and operated Young’s Grocery Store on French Island for 40 years.

Florence enjoyed spending time with her family and her neighbors.  She was a devoted mother and grandmother.  In her spare time, she liked watching television, especially her soap operas.

Florence is survived by 2 daughters:  Linda Young and Dianne (Rob) Hamann, and 2 grandchildren: Shawn and Jenny Hamann; her nephew, Charlie (Sandy) Williamson; and niece, Marie (Marty) Chapinski.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean, her sister, Genevieve Williamson and her parents.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 18^th from 1:00-3:00 pm at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gundersen Medical Foundation-Hospice Fund.
