August 15, 2025 | 6 comments

Scott William Maas, beloved father, husband and friend, passed away peacefully on Aug. 13, 2025, in West Salem, Wisconsin, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born Nov. 23, 1953, in Warrens, Wisconsin, to Theodore & Gwendolyn Maas who proceeded him in death.

Scott’s life was marked by his love of God, dedication to family and a spirit of adventure.  He married the love of his life, Teresa, on Aug. 5, 1979.  Together they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories over the years.  Scott was a proud father to Christopher & Amanda and a loving grandfather to his cherished grandchildren, Cailtlin & Cadin.  His family was his pride & joy, and he treasured every moment with them.

For an impressive 45 years Scott earned a living as a truck driver.  A profession that allowed him to explore the open roads & connect with people from all walks of life, sharing with them God’s word.  He was known for his reliability & strong work ethic.  Traits that inspired those around him.  Scott was not just a driver he was a man who loved helping others always willing to lend a hand or share a story.

In addition to his professional life Scott had a passion for outdoor activities.  He found joy in hunting and fishing often.  Sharing these adventures with family & friends.  Riding his motorcycle brought him a sense of freedom & he could often be found cruising the countryside.  He also enjoyed working on classic cars.  A passion for both motorcycles and classic cars he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

Scott’s heart was as big as his love of God, family & friends.  He was kind, generous & always ready to help those in need.  His legacy of compassion & love will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at The Gathering Place.  The family will receive friends from 11-12, a memorial service to follow at noon.

I am sorry for your loss. I drove with Scott at Gateway, I enjoyed all my encounters with Scott, usually starting with a big friendly smile from Scott, I know this is a sad time for the family, but cherish his memory

Teresa, so sorry for your loss. Scott always had a smile on his face and so helpful to everyone. I remember him when he was involved in the car care ministry and met so many needs there. I pray that God brings you and your family great comfort and peace knowing he is in the presence of our loving God and Father.

Scott was one of the very first people to welcome me to this neighborhood 11 years ago. He was always good for a laugh—from the toes!—always smiling, and always maintaining a positive attitude no matter what. He walked often throughout the day, and many times we ended up going the same way for a bit. I truly enjoyed our conversations.

He has left a hole in Shorewood Addition that cannot be filled, and I will miss him deeply.

Teresa, as I’ve told you many times before—you are the bravest woman I know, and I respect you so very much. My heart hurts for you all.

In the late 1970’s Scott and his father Ted took me deer hunting at the family farm in Warrens. I was able to get a deer and Scott allowed me as a teen to drive his new Ford Bronco. I have always had good memories of him and how kindly he treated me. I am sorry for your loss and wish his family peace from God.

Theresa, Chris, and Amanda, though time and life have drawn us apart we have never forgotten your family and the joy in worshipping andserving the Lord with you. We’ve often shared the car care ministry Scott helped to start fondly with others over the years as a practical example of Roman 12:3-9 I (Eric) was always grateful for Scott sharing his testimony to Crossfire Youth back in the day . so many other ways you opened your home in hospitality. praise God for the witness. thoughts and prayers in your grieving but rejoicing and looking forward to the day to meet up with Scott again in glory. love Eric and Melanie Mattie
