Obituary
Alana Whitney Jones
We are immensely saddened to announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Alana Whitney Jones, who left us on September 12, 2025, at the age of 31; a short time after being diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
She was born on March 5, 1994, in La Crosse, WI to John and Kay Jones. Alana was born with cerebral palsy and surpassed all expectations as doctors were not sure that Alana would be able to walk or talk. With early intervention of the Birth to 3 program, Alana made incredible gains and was able to ditch her walker just in time to start Kindergarten. She continued to learn new things every day. Alana was a radiant soul, known for being very sociable, kind, humorous, spunky, and having a love for all animals. As she entered High School, her claim to fame was that she knew every student and staff member. This propelled her school career of Jonesie’s Delivery Service. Alana loved life and enjoyed extreme rollercoasters and waterparks, rocking out with music, dancing, watching her favorite movies, and meeting new friends while shopping at Walmart, Sam’s and Aldi’s.
Alana is survived by her loving parents, John and Kay Jones, her brother, Lawrence Jones, Aunt Kim and Uncle Randy Jewett, Uncle Roger Decot and Grandma Elaine Decot as well as many other beloved family members and friends. She is preceded in death by Grandpa Terry Decot and Grandma Aletha Jones.
The family wishes to thank all teachers, paraprofessionals, Gundersen physicians, nursing staff and therapists that have been involved in Alana’s care since her birth and those from the Medical Oncology and ICU floors who recently joined “Alana’s Party”. We couldn’t have made it this far without you. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Alana’s name to Coulee Region Adult Day Center, an organization that cares for adults with all levels of disabilities.
A memorial service to celebrate Alana’s life will be planned at The Gathering Place. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family in these arrangements.
Alana was a soul full of spunk and forever one of the funniest girls I’ve ever met. I’m forever thankful that I had the opportunity to know her and love her, just as everyone else who met her. Until we meet again, Jonesie 💐
May Alana rest in peace and bring all the joy that filled her heart to heaven! I was a classmate of Alana’s class of 2012 and always will remember the silly and sweet sound of her laugh and smile. I’m so sad to hear this news and sending you all my love!
My sympathies to you and your family. Although I didn’t know Alana, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
