I knew him long ago, during a brief but very special chapter of my life. I still remember the day he took me horseback riding and let me ride a four wheeler on his family’s hobby farm. There was also an impromptu trip to Eau Claire to meet my cousin, full of laughter and possibility. I was young and overwhelmed by feelings I did not yet understand, and we eventually lost touch. But I have always carried those memories with quiet gratitude. He brought adventure and warmth into my life, and I will always remember him that way.
