Thomas James Goyette
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas James Goyette, 80, of La Crosse, WI. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Gundersen Health System (Emplify Health) on May 25, 2026, at 7:10 am.
Tom was born in La Crosse, WI on October 2, 1945, to Arthur and Charlotte (Jacques) Goyette. He grew up on French Island and attended Logan High School in La Crosse. He worked at the Holiday Inn in La Crosse, and it is while working there that he met his soulmate, Linda. On August 22, 1975, Tom married Linda (Rehdantz) and they were together until her death in 1993. While they never had children, they were each other’s greatest love and built a full life together.
Tom was an avid sports fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, and even more for the Green Bay Packers. He absolutely adored cars and often followed behind his brothers, Stan and Charles, in their love of cars. Tom enjoyed playing cards with Linda’s family as well as deer hunting. Tom was a well-loved resident of The Willows Assisted Living in La Crosse for the past two years where he had many friendships, as well as staff and caretakers he loved to joke around with.
Tom is survived by his brothers Dave (Wanda) Goyette, and Mike (Nancy) Goyette. He is further survived by sister-in-law Mary (Stan) Goyette, brother-in-law Patrick (Yvonne) Delaney, brother-in-law Paul Rehdantz, brother-in-law Jim (Ruth) Rehdantz, and sister-in-law Debra (Don) Rehdantz-Wolterstorff. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Charlotte (Jacques), bothers Stan and Charles, and sister Yvonne Delaney.
Tom’s family wishes to express their heartfelt thankfulness to the Willows and Gundersen hospital for the gifted and caring support offered him throughout his stay there.
Services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street Onalaska, at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Scott Skogen officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
