Conrad A. Jarosh, 81, of Onalaska, was born on September 26, 1944, in Little
Falls, MN and passed into eternal life on June 20, 2026, at the VA Medical
Center in Tomah, WI.
Conrad grew up on a farm outside of Little Falls with his six sisters. In 1964, he
entered the United States Navy, where he served as a radio equipment foreman.
In 1965, he married Betty (Vavra) Johnson, and in 1966, he was honorably
discharged from service and then attended St. Cloud State University. While
Conrad pursued a degree in speech therapy, he and Betty managed the
Gateway Hotel in St. Cloud. Following graduation, he worked as a speech
therapist for the Cold Spring School District. Throughout his life, Conrad enjoyed
learning and embraced several successful careers while moving to different parts
of the country. As a Kirby distributor, he earned numerous awards, traveled
internationally on incentive trips and won several company vehicles. He also
owned a pool business, therapy recruiting business and later enjoyed life on the
open road as a semi-truck driver.
Conrad was known for his constant desire for deep connection, letter writing,
check-in phone calls, creativity with his grandkids, guitar playing, love of
homemade meals and enjoyment of walking and biking the Onalaska trails. He
appreciated traveling the country and spending time with his beloved dog, Isaiah.
Country music was his favorite, and he wished to be remembered through the
song, “Ramblin Fever” by Merle Haggard.
Conrad was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mamie Jarosh; his
sisters, Adeline (Donald) Miller, Katherine (Gene) Chandler, and Virginia (Ron)
Empey.
He was the proud father of Twyla Amann and Melissa (Dennis) Schmit;
loving grandfather to Alisyn and Hayden (Kenzie) Dovenberg, Taylor Amann,
Eliana, Madeline, Daniel, and Robert Schmit. He is survived by his sisters, Rita
Gardner, Diana Felix and Irene Hansen, as well as his former wife, Betty
Johnson.
Conrad loved spending time at the YMCA in Onalaska, WI, where he appreciated
the facilities and the sense of community. Memorials may be directed to the
YMCA in Onalaska.
A private ceremony and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
