Greta Mae Anderson, 89, of Lake Hallie, WI, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, in Holmen, WI.  She was born on June 8, 1937, to Martha and Thomas McCabe.

Greta’s hobbies included writing, reading, gardening and travel.  She enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her home off Lake Hallie, spending time working on her church activities along with group outings with the Redhat Ladies.  She was proud of earning her master’s degree in writing.

She is survived by her companion, Ralph Scott Everts; son, Arthur (Julie) Schmidt; daughter, Annette L. Durst; grandchildren, Talyah Schmidt, AJ Schmidt, Victoria Schmidt, Ashley Nesbit, Alyssa (Miguel) Saldana, Brandon Durst; and 3 great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by siblings, Halvor (Carol) McCabe, Martha (Erv) Marten and Daniel Werlein.

Greta is preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Thomas McCabe; granddaughters, Faith Elizabeth Schmidt, Sydney Hope Schmidt; brothers, Thomas McCabe, David Werlein, sister, Kathleen Bown; daughter, Cynthia Gotter.

Greta’s family would like to thank all the family and friends who have loved and supported Greta through her life journey.  Also, a special thank you to all her caregivers at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 02, 2026, at 11:00 am at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St., Onalaska with visitation one hour prior to the service.
