William M. (Bill) Wood passed away surrounded by family on July 8, 2026, in La Crosse, WI, at the age of 77.

Bill was born May 22, 1949, in Denver, CO, to Dr. John M. and Mildred S. Wood. Bill wore many hats throughout his life; he was a Vietnam-era Green Beret/USASF medic and a CFO for the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care (35 years). He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, hunting, gardening and playing hockey, to name a few. But above all, Bill was a devoted husband, loving father/grandfather, a “genuinely cool uncle” and loyal friend. Bill graced everyone he met with his charm, wit, camaraderie and a warm heart.

Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara K. Wood; children John Travis (wife Dawn), Andris W., Sarah J. and Eric (stepson); grandchildren Stuart, Max and William. As well his furry companion, Finley (pet dog). He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John M. and Mildred S. Wood, and his brothers J. Steven and Robert M. Wood.

Celebration of Life Will be held Saturday, August 08, 2026, at the Miles-Hagen American Legion Post # 200, 421 WI-54 Black River Falls, Wisconsin, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Military honors will be performed by the Miles-Hagen Honor guard and The United States Army.
