Kelly Jean Murphy, 67, of La Crosse, passed away July 28, 2026.

Kelly was born on December 19, 1958, to William and Joyce (Holzer) Murphy. She built a 43-year career in software development, beginning at IBM and later continuing at Mayo Clinic, before retiring in 2024.

Kelly was larger than life and never met a stranger, only a friend she had not made plans with yet. Known for her contagious laugh, brilliant smile, and adventurous spirit, she was always the first to help someone in need and the first to suggest a new adventure. Whether traveling, cheering on the Packers, or simply gathering with family and friends, Kelly brought joy and energy wherever she went.

A loving and devoted daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend, Kelly loved her family fiercely and was always there when needed. She shared a special bond with her parents and siblings and was a proud and devoted aunt to her 11 nieces and nephews. She celebrated their successes, encouraged them through challenges, and made each of them feel deeply loved. Her generosity, kindness, humor, and unwavering support left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Kelly’s light continues to shine in the countless lives she touched through her compassion, friendship, and laughter. Her memory will live on every time a favorite story is shared, a Packers game is cheered on, a helping hand is offered, or an adventure begins.

Survivors include her mother, Joyce (Holzer) Murphy; four siblings, Kim (Nick Maneri) of Toccoa, GA, Mike (Denise Jaquinde) of Rochester, MN, Mark (Lynn Zurfluh) of La Crosse, and Melissa (Scott Moran) of La Crosse. She is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews: Brittany Robertson (Robby) of Missoula, MT; Kristine Murphy of La Crosse; Matthew Murphy (Melissa) of Rochester, MN; Ryan Murphy of Livingston, MT; Noah Murphy (Erika) of La Crescent, MN; Hannah Murphy of Tampa, FL; Zachary Moran (Alycia Larson) of Apple Valley, MN; Devin, Chase, and Dustin
Moran of La Crosse; and Megan Lund (Matt) of Lakeville, MN.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Murphy.

Kelly cared deeply about helping others, had a generous heart and loved giving back. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to United Way, Hunger Task Force, WAFER Food Pantry, or the Salvation Army in her honor.
