In Loving Memory of Ruth Lois Hauge

Ruth Lois Hauge, 96, our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, passed away on August 7, 2026, at the Benedictine Manor Nursing Home. Born on December 26, 1929, in Minot, N.D. and raised on the family farm in Drake, N.D., Ruth attended Trinity Nursing School, graduating in 1952. She married the love of her life, Hans “Bud” Hauge in 1952, joining him in Biloxi, Mississippi where he was stationed in the Air Force.

Ruth and Bud moved to Buffalo, NY in 1954, where daughters Diane Carol and Gale Lynn were born. They eventually moved to Glen Rock, NJ, where they lived until retirement in 1989. Throughout the years Ruth was extremely active in the Lutheran Church, hosting interns, teaching Bible Classes and serving on the church council. Ruth and Bud built their dream house in retirement in North Carolina, remaining active throughout their years there. She loved traveling with Bud in their camper visiting family and friends along the way. After Bud’ passing in 2011, Ruth moved to La Crosse, Wisconsin in 2014, near her daughter Diane and family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Hauge, sister Justine Schoenfish and brother, Robert Krueger. She will be deeply missed by her brother Sieghard (Brenda) Krueger, her daughters, Diane (Stephen) Sprague and Gale (Dana) Mitchell, grandchildren Callie (Christopher) Hilleshiem, Trevor (Anna) Sprague, Amanda (Oliver) Gage, Adam (Megan) Mitchell, and Alyssa (Daniel) Quinn, as well as 11 Great-Grandchildren to whom she will always be “Nana” as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse on Saturday, September 5th at 11:00, preceded by a visitation at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to WAFER Food Pantry or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family during this difficult time.
