Robert “Bob” Wurtzel, Sr., 81, passed away on September 30, 2026, following a long battle with COPD.

Born on September 3, 1945, Bob spent most of his life along the Mississippi River in
Iowa and Wisconsin, where he built a life filled with family, friendship, laughter, and countless memories.

Bob was one of those people who could talk to anyone. Outgoing and genuinely interested in others, he had a way of making people feel welcome and leaving an impression that lasted a lifetime. His family knew him as someone who brought fun and laughter wherever he went, but also as a man who demonstrated, through the way he lived, the importance of enjoying life and cherishing the people around you.

Bob was at his happiest when surrounded by family—with a beer in hand, a good story to tell, and plenty of laughter to share.

He was a loving father to Bob Jr. and Brad and a cherished father-in-law to Leann and Lisa. He was a proud grandfather to Zach, Ethan, and Vince and a loving great-grandfather to Allie. Bob loved nothing more than watching and supporting his grandchildren in their many sports and activities. Their accomplishments and adventures brought him tremendous pride and joy.

He also enjoyed cheering on his beloved Brewers and Packers and spending time hunting. But it was his family that remained at the center of his world.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn “Kay,” the love of his life. After more than 59 years of marriage, their family finds comfort in knowing that they are together once again.

A celebration of life will be held at the Stoddard American Legion, 414 Broadway Street on Sunday, November 8, from 12 noon – 3:00 p.m. Luncheon provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Village of Stoddard for the benefit of the dog park, a cause especially meaningful to Bob and Kay. Their dogs, Booker and Baxter, brought them genuine happiness and were an important part of their family.

Bob leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, stories, and memories that will be treasured forever.

Rest in peace, Dad. You are so loved. Please say hi to Mom for us.
