John “Jack” Robert Stoffel, 79, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born on August 19, 1936 to Clarence and Ethel (Vogelsberg) Stoffel.  He married Rosemary Fuerstenberg on June 27, 1959 at St. Clements Catholic Church in Lancaster, WI.

Jack loved the outdoors.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting.  He worked for the Department of Transportation for 30 years building highways, turning down promotions to stay outdoors.

Jack is survived by his wife, Rosemary; son, Patrick (Janice) Stoffel; grandson, Zachary Stoffel; brothers in law, Donald Fuerstenberg, Francis (Maxine) Fuerstenberg; sisters in law, Marcella (John) Budworth, Norma (Jim Ley) Starrett, Bernice (LeRoy) Ihm, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Lawrence (Evelyn) Fuerstenberg.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Mary Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston Street, La Crosse.  Father Brian Konopa will officiate.  Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of mass at the church.  Burial will take place at La Crosse Catholic Cemetery following mass.
