Obituary
Vera Mednis
On Monday, October 19, 2015, near Warrens, WI, the doorway between this world and the next opened enough to admit another spirit. Vera Mednis (nee Kesners), 75, was born in Riga, Latvia on November 26, 1939 to Nikolajs and Lidija Kesners. Vera married the love of her life, Edmunds Mednis on September 19, 1959 in Milwaukee, WI. They shared 30 good years together. Vera had a passion and wonder for nature’s beauty and strength. She was an artist, mastering leatherworking, weaving, pottery, quilting, and more. She was a wonderful, patient, and loving mother. She was a loving and supporting partner to Edmunds. Together they carved out their dream life in the woods. She surrounded herself with true friends, lots of pets, cooking, beautiful flowering plants and gardens, and artwork of all types – these were the things that gave her joy. She shared that joy and wonder with those around her, even at the darkest of times.
She is survived by her daughter Mara Mednis. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her stepmother Emma Kesners, and her stepbrother Ilgonis Krumins.
Thank you to the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, Mayo Clinic Palliative Care, Tomah Area Cancer Society, Tomah Hospice, Gundersen Dialysis Unit, Wisconsin IRIS, and the many others who allowed her family to care for her and provide her comfort. Per her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Condolences/memorials may be sent to the family.
