Dorothy Elaine Foster
ONALASKA — Dorothy Elaine Foster, 89, of Onalaska passed away peacefully on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Bethany Riverside Healthcare Center in La Crosse.
She married William D. Foster in September 1942.
She was a talented seamstress. We all knew we could count on her to do beautiful work and get the job done.
An avid crafter, she made many interesting and attractive things. She built many unique doll houses and created the furniture for them. Dorothy also acted in several plays put on by her Assisted Living Facility, Shelby Terrace.
Dorothy was a long-time member and supporter of the Onalaska Historical Society, and a 46-year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara (Clyde) Ellis of Fremont, Calif., Katherine Petersen of Onalaska, Wis., and Diane (Jim) Engh of La Crosse, Wis., plus six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, many nieces and nephews, and numerous good friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters and three brothers.
Dorothy’s family would like to thank the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice nurses, Bethany Riverside and Shelby Terrace for their loving care.
In accordance with her wishes, Dorothy will be cremated. A private service will be held at a later date. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
