Joseph William Otradovec
Joseph W. Otradovec, 76, of Onalaska, passed away May 2, 2010 peacefully. He was born June 24, 1933 in Bolivar, MO to Joseph and Lena (Wilson) Otradovec.
Joe graduated from Pleasant Hope High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Airforce and served for 8 years. He was stationed in Japan during the Korean War during which he received 4 medals of honor for his service.
In 1955 he married Pat Straight and later divorced in 1974. During their marriage they had 2 children, David and Terry.
Joe farmed for a few years and then went into Diesel and Automotive Mechanics. He retired from the mechanic field in 1989.
In 1983 he met and gave his love to Sheryl Radde. They have 2 children, Shelly and Kelly Jo.
Joe loved to hunt and fish with his buddy Jeff, and spend time gardening, he was an avid tomato grower. He also loved watching the birds and feeding the squirrels. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed watching football, the Packers, Nascar, and basketball.
He is survived by Sheryl of Onalaska, WI; son, David (Robin) Otradovec of Denver, CO; daughter, Terry (Steve) Hanson of Bangor, WI; daughters, Shelly Otradovec-Radde and Kelly Jo Otradovec-Radde of Onalaska, WI; brother, Charlie (Doris) Otradovec of Springfield, MO; sister, Barbara Messerli of Springfield, MO; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; Sheryl Family: mother, Betty Radde; brothers, Don, Jeff, Richard, Brian; sister, Cindy; nieces, nephews and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena; brother-in-law, Howard Messerli; and Sheryl’s father, Ed Radde.
A Celebration of Life will be held on the May 15, 2010 from 1-4PM at Sheryl and Joe’s home, 514 3rd Ave So., Onalaska, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
