Kathleen M. Darling
Kathleen Darling, 92, of La Crosse, died peacefully Wed., Jan. 24, at the Onalaska Care Center. She was born on Oct. 4,1925, the same day as her father, to William and Katherine (Freismuth) Kohlwey.
In 1954, she married Jack Darling. In her youth, she worked at Auto Lite factory and later worked sewing for Jack Winter. In her retirement, she loved to travel and line dance with the “Boot Scootin’ Grannies”, who entertained many nursing homes.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary (George) Schrabeck and Rita (Kent) Knutson; brother, David (Arlene) Kohlwey; children, Bonnie Bane and David Hofer; sister in law’s, Beverly Kohlwey and Elaine Kohlwey; and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Tim Kohlwey for the care he provided for her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Darling; siblings, Thomas (Elaine) Kohlwey, Caroline (Laird) Sloggy, James Kohlwey, Paul Kohlwey, and Dorothy (Bill) Fisher; one niece and three nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thur., Feb. 8, at 11 AM, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Father Berger will be officiating. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
