Virginia “Ginny” Porter
Virginia “Ginny” Kay Porter, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse.
She was born on April 1, 1942 to Anton and Mildred Porter.
Ginny graduated from Maria High School in Stevens Point, WWTI in the arts, and UW Stevens Point with a bachelor of arts degree. She was an avid artist, enjoying painting watercolor, gouache and oil paint. She also enjoyed lithograph, woodcarvings, genealogy (Barnum), blogging, zen gardens, dream catchers, Native American and Asian artworks, amazon rainforest biotope, photography, and scenery based paintings.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Porter; sister, Kathryn Porter; nephew, Robert Strasser; nieces, Elizabeth (Mark) Hardy, Emily (Mike) Johnson, Erin Engebretsen-Raffin; great nieces and nephews, Jonathan, DevynAnn, Anthony, Derrick, Alissa, Hannah, Bella; and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Porter; and sister, Judith Ann Engebretsen.
The family would like to especially thank the Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice Team.
Private services will be held at a later date. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
