George D. Georgieff
George D. Georgieff, 81, of Sparta, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully, in his home, surrounded by
family, in the early morning hours of February 19th, 2012.
He was born in Dinevo, Bulgaria in 1930 and
lived there until 1957, when he came to the United States and settled in Chicago, IL. There he met
Ursula Mursewski, and they were married July 5th, 1958. While in Chicago George worked as a tool
and diemaker. He and Ursula had 2 children, Marge and Jim. In 1970 the family moved to Marengo,
IL where they lived for 34 years. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great
grandfather. He was an avid gardener, reader, quilter and homework helper. In 2004, George and
Ursula moved to Sparta, WI where they remained active in Trinity Lutheran Church and quilting and
gardening. George was preceded in death by his mother Jordanka and his father Dimitri.
He is survived by his wife, Ursula Georgieff, two sisters, Dimitria and Petrunka of Bulgaria, his
children Marge Malmquist (Joe), and Jim Georgieff (Erynn), four grandchildren, Lisa Gauslow
(Adam), Erik Malmquist, Jillian Fuller (Nathan) and Jennifer Georgieff. He is also survived by his two
great grandchildren, Carl Joseph Gauslow and Lena Christine Gauslow. He will be deeply missed by
all. A small funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 612 N. Water St., Sparta, WI at
11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 25th. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Trinity Lutheran
Church. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
