Dr. Maxwell E. Cubbage

Dr. Maxwell. E. Cubbage found eternal rest on March 19, 2012, in his home in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
He was born on November 4, 1949 in Garden City Kansas to Velma (Jo Dutton) and Ernest Cubbage. He grew up in Wichita, Kansas. Max attended Friends’ University in Wichita Kansas, where he participated in a rich campus life and received his bachelor’s degree in education. He attended Wichita State University, earning his master’s degree in guidance and counseling. Max earned his doctorate of philosophy in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Max worked as a psychologist for La Crosse County from 1992 to 2011. In his spare time, Max enjoyed listening to music and gardening, both indoors and outdoors. He had a passion for Native American art. He enjoyed watching sports and supported both the Jayhawks and the Badger sports teams, which caused conflict during March madness. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Cubbage, his sister, Judy McKown, his brother, Norman Cubbage, and his mother, Jo Cubbage,
He is survived by his children Vanessa Kocar, Alex (Meghan) Kocar, Ian Kocar, and their mother, Merry Kocar. He is further survived by his brother, Jerry Cubbage, his sister-in-law, Diana Cubbage, nieces: Wendy Post, Gillian Cubbage, Kori Ratzloff , nephew, Erik Cubbage as well as great-nieces and – nephews.
A funeral mass for Dr. Maxwell Cubbage will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 in the Marion Chapel of The Cathedral of St. Joseph the Workman, 530 Main St., La Crosse, Wisconsin.   The Rev. Charles Stoetzel will officiate with interment at Green Mound Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, his children request that memorials be directed to the Coulee Council on Addictions, WAFER, Friends’ University in Wichita, Kansas, or a charity of one’s choice.  Coulee Region Cremation Group, www.couleecremation.com, is assisting the family.
