Ernest “Bob” Evans

Ernest Robert “Bob” Evans , 69 of Sparta, died Friday, March 23, 2012 at home with his wife by his side.

Bob was born to Ernest and Frances (Heinzelman)Evans, June 20, 1942 in Waukesha, WI. He married his high school sweet-heart Marjorie J. “Marge“ (Hassler) Evans on March 24, 1962 and would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on Saturday. They moved to Sparta 38 years ago.

Bob was a carpenter by trade and had his own business, and his skill with wood-working and carpentry were known through-out the area and his craftsmanship is enjoyed by many. He also loved the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, archery and enjoying God’s creation.

He loved people and could make friends in a moment with anyone who crossed his path. His friendly banter was inclusive to folks from all walks of life. He had a gift for making people feel comfortable around him. He had a strong sense of integrity and a faith in Jesus Christ as his savior.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marge; his four children Bonnie (Jeff)Venzke, Kim (Ed) White, Dan all three of Alaska and Ted (Ann) of California; and nine grandchildren: Jordan (Bryan) Dahms, Kendal and Carly Venzke, Jesse and Cody White, Caleb and Audrey Evans, Sarah and Hannah Evans; and six siblings, JoAnne (David)Cowan, Don, Ed (Patti), Brian (Judy), Tom (Sharon), Alan along with Marge’s siblings and their families and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Anita Grieser.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 30th 4:00 to 7:00 and a memorial service will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m., both at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 6644 State Hwy 16, Sparta. A light lunch will be provided.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to “Bob Evans Memorial Fund.” This fund will help build a school this November under www.handsofgrace.org on the Dominican/Haiti border, and contribute to building houses for the poverty stricken homeless in Mexico; as well as helping the family with traveling expenses. The family would like to thank Gunderson Lutheran Clinic and Hospital for the loving and excellent medical care Bob received each time he was there. The care and hugs meant so much to him. He was truly blessed by each and every person there.
