Born August 14, 1916 to John and Martha Berglund in Weaver, MN.

Her parents Johan Jonsson Berglund and Martha Catarina Magnas immigrated from Sweden in 1891. They settled in Weaver, Mn where Alice was born. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage to which she attributed her long life.

Alice married Ralph “Bud” Pelofske on August 11, 1945 in Kellogg, Mn where she was a farm wife until their retirement in 1978, when they moved to La Crescent, MN.

Alice had many friends from Minneiska, Weaver, Brownsville, Hokah, and La Crescent who she loved to have coffee with. She enjoyed driving her car and did so until she was 93. She also enjoyed reading, game shows, and doing crossword puzzles with her friends. Alice was active for many years in the La Crescent United Methodist Church bible study and Hannah Circle where every year she would make her famous divinity candy for the church bazaar

She was preceded in death by her husband; Bud, November 10, 1984, six sisters; Hilda, Jeanette, Josephine, Ellen, Dorothy, Bernice “Bunny”, four brothers; Joseph, Edward, Rudolph, Harold.

She is survived by her son; Peter Joseph Pelofske of Portland, daughter; Martha “Mardi” Forss of La Crescent, Son in law; Jerry “Sil” Forss, Sister in law; Grace Kamerer of Taylor, six grandchildren; Kaysa (Arjun), Laura, Kendra, Alicia, Taylor, and Raquel, three great grandchildren; Madeline Wells, Amelia Wells, Rishav Jahn Chakravarti, and many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews across the United States.

The family would like to thank Gundersen Lutheran Hospice staff and volunteers for their support over the past two years. They would also like to thank the nursing staff at Golden Living in La Crescent, it was the little things that meant the most. A hand held, words of comfort, nails polished, and the last smile. A very special thank you to faithful friends Florence Larson and Arlene who continued to visit her until the last days.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at La Crescent United Methodist Church, 520 North Elm St., La Crescent.  The Rev. David McBride will officiate.  Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
