CASHTON — Jeanette Ann Kaufmann, 70, of Cashton left us without our permission on Aug. 14, 2012, in her home.

She was born in La Crosse on Aug. 21, 1941, to William and Mary Brady.

She is survived by her three children,  Kay Bechel, Dave Kaufmann, and Sue Kaufmann. She is also survived by her mother, Mary Brady; her sisters, Eunice Bielefeldt, Carol Nordby, Barbara; and her brothers, Willam (Donna), James (Janice), Stephen, Michael (Sherry), Douglas, Richard (Lorraine), Paul (Sandra), Patrick, Joseph( Marilyn), David (Beverly) and Robert (Toni). She had three grandchildren, Alexander and Ashley Bechel, and Michael Kaufmann; and two great-grandchildren, Mason and Gavin Bechel. She will also be missed by aunts, uncles, numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends and co-educators.

Her father, William; and her niece, Rachel Nordby, preceded her in death.

Jeannette graduated from Holmen High School and had a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse. She began her teaching career in 1968 at St. John’s Catholic School in La Crosse and continued her career with the La Crosse district until she retired in 1998. Jeannette loved to read and researched many topics from the environment to health. As an earth science teacher she had a keen interest in all things science.

She most enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She got together as often as possible with her many friends and fellow co-workers, including her WOW and HT groups.

A memorial service will held between 1 and 4 p.m. today, Aug. 18, 2012, at the Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Wisconsin Public Radio, the environmental organization of your choice, or the Ontario Public Library.
