Jean Marie Wortman, 68, of Cashton, WI, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2012 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born on July 27, 1944 to William and Lucille Meier. She married Ken Wortman on March 14, 1964 in Onalaska.

Jean worked for several years with H & R Block and AARP as a tax preparer. She enjoyed needle work, traveling and spoiling her grandchildren. She will always be “GG”.

Jean is survived by her husband; daughters, Julie (Mike) Schaub of Rockland, Kelly Rupnik of Fall Creek; grandchildren, Kristen, Rebecca, Andrew (“we’re pretty much screwed”), Matthew Schaub of Rockland; brother, Wayne (Karen) Meier; sister, Lois (Raymond) Wakeen; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a stillborn son; and her grandparents.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses that cared for Jean at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center and the transplant center at UW Madison.

Per Jean’s wishes, no visitation or service will be held. Memorials may be given to Cashton First Responders, 645 Front St., Cashton,WI 54619, in Jean’s name. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
