Corinne A. “Corky” (Falke) Parkes
Corinne A. “Corky” (Falke) Parkes, 81, of La Crosse, died February 7, 2013 at her home. She was born July 11, 1931 in La Crosse, WI to Evelyn (Vincenz) & Lloyd O. Falke. She was baptized, confirmed, and married to Robert D. Parkes August 3, 1954 at Mount Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. Bob preceded her in death on March 29, 1997. They were members of Faith Lutheran Church-MS since 1961.
Corky graduated from Central High School in 1949, & worked at Gateway Glass, Columbia Studios, and Candy House in earlier years. She loved to travel especially with Bob in his 18-wheeler across the country & numerous trips offered through the local AARP chapter 870 of which she was a long time member. She spent 16 years hosting these trips.
While raising her six children she was an active participant in scouting: Cub, Boy, and Girl Scouts as well as the local PTA. She enjoyed her friends at the 49er and Happy Hatters breakfast over the years.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara J. Parkes of La Crosse, Greta A. (David) Dahl of Whitehall, WI; two sons, Gregory L. (Dianna), Karl R. (Wanda) of La Crosse; brother, Kay O. Falke of Green Valley, AZ, thirteen grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael K. in 1970; father, Lloyd Falke in 1973; husband, Bob in 1997; mother, Evelyn in 2000; sisters-in-law, Julia Falke in 2007, Margaret Bane in 2011; and son, Rodney D. on January 11, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church, 1407 Main St. La Crosse, WI. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Pastor Paul Mundinger will officiate. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
Faith in God was her constant strength and she is starting a new life with the one she sought.
