David Michael Clarkin, 68, of Onalaska, passed away with his family at his side on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center. He was born August 8, 1944 to John and Doris (Moe) Clarkin. He married Bonnie ( Hagmann) in September 4, 1964 who later passed away in January 1993 . He married Marilyn Wagner (Kernan) on December 15, 1995.
We celebrate Dave’s life and the legacy he left behind. His example of what it means to be a Papa, father, and husband will forever live on in the lives he touched. These include his wife Marilyn; children, Deborah Clarkin and her children, Hannah, Josiah, Peter, Naomi, Malakai; Jason (Molly) Clarkin and their children Cullen, Cylas; Kimberlee (Garett) Svir; sister, Rosemary (Floyd) Nelson; stepchildren, Rachel (Nick) Gardner and their daughter Alia; Matthew (Michelle) Wagner and their children, Simone and Isaiah; Rebekah (Navid) Aliaghai; and many other relatives and friends.
His family was everything to him and it showed through the selfless and giving manner in which he lived his life. We will always remember the loyal, big hearted man who made the world a better place for the people he left behind. Although deeply missed, we rejoice knowing he is with his heavenly Father.
He is preceded in death by his parents John R. and Doris Clarkin, late wife Bonnie and brother John Clarkin.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00 am. There will be a brief visitation one hour prior to the service at Journey Lutheran Church, 2703 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska, WI. The Rev. Steve Meyer will officiate. I was so saddened to hear of Dave’s going home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus. I remember being in a bible study with him when he lived in La Crescent. Then, after my husband died, he came and helped me with a man’s chore that I couldn’t do by myself. I know he was a wonderful GIVING, Compassionate man. He has rewards in heaven waiting for him. Be blessed, as you remember all the wonderful things Dave did for each one of you. He no longer has pain or sorrow, but is in the hands of Jesus!!!

    Dear Marilyn and family,
I am so sorry to hear of David’s passing. Ron Clarkin called today with the sad news. I did not know David well, but I enjoyed being with him and the whole family at family reunions some years ago. Please accept these heartfelt condolences from his third cousin.
    With sympathy,
    Maureen

Uncle Dave was an amazing man filled with happiness and joy. He always made me feel special and appreciated. No matter long long it had been since I had seen him, it was as if not a day had passed. He will always be my favorite uncle.
