Alban E. Hanson
Alban E. Hanson, 90, of Onalaska, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 at his home. He was born May 12, 1931 in La Crosse to Raymond and Ragna (Oines) Hanson. Al was a graduate of Logan HS, Class of 1949, the attending the University of Dubuque from 1956-1958. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1951 -1954. Al worked for the CBQ Railroad for 20 years, Briggs Transport and the City of La Crosse for 23 years in the Inspection Department-City Sealer-Weights and Measures prior to his retirement. Among Al’s fondest memories were his years working on the railroad at Galena Jct. and countless days fishing walleyes on the Mississippi and many weeks spent fishing with family on the “Big Chip”. He was a proud member of the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post #52, having recently received his 50 year pin.Al is survived by his wife of 65 years Linda, their children Mark (Janice) of Green Bay, and Cathy Bull of Rochester, MN., granddaughters; Ashley (Matt) Barnowsky, Kirsten (Alex) Gullett, and Amy (Kevin) Christian, great-grandchildren Hadley, Remy, Cohen, and Pierce Christian. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 27, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1010 Sill Street, La Crosse. Reverend Philip Waselik will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery, La Crosse. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of services at the church. In keeping with CDC recommendations, Al’s family wishes people to wear masks when indoors for the visitation and funeral service. Coulee Region Cremation Group, Onalaska is assisting the family in their time of loss.
