Alvin “Al” Lloyd Smith, 83, of La Crosse, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on March 20, 2011 in his home. He was born on January 3, 1928 to Charles and Lydia (Woodke) Smith.

He married Rita McMahan on April 7, 1947 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse.

 

Al enjoyed camping, boating, and mostly spending time with his family.

 

He is survived by his children, Sharon (Bruce) Smith; Gary Smith; Mark (Carrie) Smith; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Al is preceded in death by his wife; 2 children; parents; sisters; and brothers.

 

Al’s family would like to thank the nurses and care providers of Franciscan Skemp at home hospice that helped in his care and comfort.

 

It was his wishes to be cremated with no service. He wanted people to remember the healthy, happy times that were shared with him. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
