Obituary
Anita J. Lindvig (Heilman)
Anita Jean Lindvig (nee Heilman) died unexpectedly on Oct. 21, 2024
Anita was born in Milwaukee in 1960 and grew up in Galesville and La Crosse. She married Jeff Lindvig of La Crosse in 1994 and loved him and the house and pets they shared for many years in rural Holmen.
A 1978 graduate of La Crosse Central high school, Anita went back to school to get her degree at Drake University, graduating in 1994, and spent many years as a pharmacist with Shopko before retiring in 2017. One of Anita’s passions was working with animal rescue organizations. Over the years she helped countless dogs get placed into good homes.
Anita loved her friends and family and always enjoyed being with the special people in her life. Among many two-legged and four-legged loved ones, Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Russ and Connie Heilman. She is survived by her husband Jeff; brother Dan Heilman (Annie); brothers-in-law Jerry Lindvig, Dave Lindvig (Sue), and Steve Lindvig (Betsy); nephews Jeremy, Jason, and Greg Lindvig, Ben Pfaff, and Ryan Heilman; niece Amanda Lindvig; and dogs Aero and Noble.
Anita will be remembered as someone who was strong, smart, big-hearted, and not afraid to make her feelings known. She loved to laugh, to hang out at her and Jeff’s camper near Merrillan, to go to the races, and most of all to be around the people and pets who meant the most to her.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the White Paws German Shepherd Rescue organization (https://wpgsr.com).
A celebration of Anita’s life will take place from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, in the Grand Norway Room of Drugan’s Castle Mound in Holmen. Anita liked a good party, so let’s give her one.
Our hearts are so heavy with the loss of this gracious lady. Jeff and I so enjoyed our Christmas gathering when you all would attend. Anita always brought so much joy to our gatherings. So wish we could have more time together. One joyful lovely and caring cousin. Our thought prayers and heartache are with you, Jeff and Dan especially. Kelly and Jeff Bonsack.
So very sorry for ur loss
I love this photo of Anita! I spoke with her before this trip to Green Bay- she was so excited, but quite nervous to leave her pups. When we talked next, she told me how amazing it was and she was super happy with her dogs were well taken care of! I will miss her so much!
I worked with Anita at Shopko. We were both manning the service desk at that time. She was a dedicated and hard worker. We often planned a happy hour after our shifts.
The last time I saw Anita was at Pet Smart. She and I enjoyed a good trip down memory lane. I am so saddened to learn of her passing. My sincerest condolences go out to all who knew and loved her.
Anita was an amazing friend. Someone that I looked up to and cared about. Even though the miles kept us apart I always had a feeling she was still there for me. She will be missed and my heart is broken. I am thankful for the many cherished memories, the times we shared and I am so sad I can’t see my friend again. You will be missed so much. Condolences to Jeff and Dan.
So very sorry for your loss Jeff. Anita was such a nice gal . You are in our thoughts.
The Tyler family.
