Arden Michael Schock left his earthly life for eternity, unexpectedly, on March 11, 2014. He was born to Leonard and Victoria Schock.

He was employed at the brewery throughout college, then successfully opened his own business from scratch, Schock’s Bait & Tackle, which he sold in 1976 and continued his work at the brewery for 44 years. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan Roellich, the love of his life on July 12, 1969. They have 2 beautiful children, a daughter Tia Marie SchockaConger (Jeff) and a son Arden Michael Schock II (Christina) of Denver.

Arden thrived on the love of his 3 yr old grandson, Dashden, who also adored his ‘Bumpa’. Arden traveled to more than a dozen countries through out the world with his soul mate, among his favorites were Germany, Ireland, Italy, and the Greek Isles. He enjoyed being a Riverfest director for many years, as well as volunteering for Irish Fest and Rotary Lights. He sat on the board for two of our sister cities and was a Eucharistic Minister at Mary Mother of the Church. He gave blood on a regular basis and participated in the WRAP study, in honor of his sister-in-law, Mary Anne who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at a young age. He helped Susie care for Annie with NEVER a complaint and he devotedly card for his father-in-law EVERY day for 6 years until Ralph’s death at age 96.

Arden is survived by his brother, Darwin and his sisters Sherry Carl and Jolene Harris, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 10:30 AM at Mary Mother of the Church, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse. The Rev. Douglas Robertson will officiate. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the mass at the church on Saturday. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.

This all happened so suddenly, we still can not cope, but if you want to come by the church to say good-bye to Arden. Please no words, just hugs. We’ll talk when we’re able.
