Obituary

Benjamin Mathias Hatlevig

November 25, 2025 | 12 comments

Benjamin Mathias Hatlevig passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Ben was born to Kjell Hatlevig and Cynthia Hutman in La Crosse, WI, on August 19, 1999.

In 26 years of life, Ben found the meaning of what it truly means to live. His faith and hope in God was his anchor through the mountains and the valleys of his life.

Ben greatly appreciated his mission trips to the Dominican Republic and to Panama. He talked animatedly of the ways that he was going to be a missionary in the life ahead of him.

One of his greatest treasures in his life was his marriage to his wife, Eve. With God at the center, together they stood and faced Ben’s health crisis. Through these months of his illness, Ben lived richer and deeper than ever. He always remained strong and kind.

Ben is survived by his wife Eve Hatlevig, father Kjell (Caroline) Hatlevig, mother Cindi (Keith) Hutman, sister Shelby Hatlevig, twin brother Arnold Hatlevig, Grandpa and Grandma Jerry and Nancy Hatlevig and Grandpa and Grandma David and Sandi Moser, along with aunts, uncles and cousins.

There will be a celebration of life service held on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at 1 PM, at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason St, in Onalaska, WI.

    Dear Hatlevig Family,
Though I was never blessed to meet your beloved “Benny”, it was not hard to learn what a deeply spiritual man he was and devoted disciple of our Savior Jesus Christ. It was also evident how deeply he was loved by his family.
May you be blessed with continued peace and love,

    Jan Sandoval ❤️

Ben was one of the most kind and caring men we’ve ever had the pleasure of getting to know. He was a blessing to our family, and he will be greatly missed by anyone who had the chance to get to know him.

Cindi and family, my deepest sympathy to all of you. Though Ben and I only met a couple of times, I feel I knew him for years. Watching his journey through pictures and posts, he was undoubtedly on fire for Jesus, and loved his family beyond words.

Allow yourselves time…and space…to grieve, remember, and even smile when he sends you a God-wink letting you know he’s okay. He’s beyond okay, he’s worshipping Jesus face to face!

I love you all, and pray for strength, knowing sometimes our healing comes through tears.

    Love, Jenn

    Dear Family,

I have no words that will ease your pain. I only know Bene when he was little. But having lost a child myself I know the grief all of you are feeling. I pray that God will walk through this time with you. God bless each of you as you walk this path.

Dear Cindi and Keith and your entire family…
We will always remember Bene, Arnie and their pals..sitting in the front row during worship and giving their all for our Lord….They were and are warriors for our Savior…I think we were all proud of those young men who were proud to show us their sincere love for God…
We’re confident in knowing that Bene and our Father are waiting to be reunited with you in Heaven.
God bless you and you have our deepest sympathies.
