Betty Ann Bruring, 81, of La Crosse, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in the Sterling House of Onalaska.

 She was born September 1, 1929 to William and Esther (Engaas) Smith. She married Donald Bruring on March 6, 1948 in La Crosse.

 

Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting and traveling. She was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and later First Lutheran Church.

 

Betty is preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Kenneth Smith; sister-in-law, Mae Smith; brothers-in-law, Richard Bruring, and Tom Bruring.

 

She is survived by daughter, Sandee Winterfield and grandchildren, Jeff (Wendy) Winterfield, Amy (Derek) Buschmann; daughter, Gail Wilson and grandchildren, Kari Wilson, Kristi Wilson, Kelly Wilson; son, Dave (Lisa) Bruring and grandchildren, Karen (Jonathan) Ferris, Dallas (Liz) Bruring, Jayda Schiffer, Levi Bruring, Jamie Schiffer, Madisyn Bruring; son, John (Tammy Schyvinck) Bruring and grandchildren, Coty Schyvinck, Joshua Schyvinck, TayLynn Bruring; 13 great-grandchildren, Cody, Kody, Megan, Jenna, Alayna, Kyra, Aubrey, Abby Emma, Kylee, Gavin, Alexis, Isaac; brother, Charles (Carol) Smith; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of the Sterling House in Onalaska, Onalaska Care Center and Hospice of Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center.

 

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church, 410 Main St., Onalaska. The Rev. Marlene Pankonin will officiate with interment at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10:30AM until the time of the service at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society. Coulee Region Cremation Group at www.couleecremation.com is assisting the family.
