Beuford “Bo” G. Fry
Beuford “Bo” G. Fry, loving husband, father, grandpa, best friend, mentor, best pancake maker, 83, of Onalaska passed away Saturday, May 7, 2016 with family by his side.
He was born on March 2, 1933 in Monfort, WI to LeRoy and Florence Fry. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War being honorably discharged in 1955. He was a 1959 graduate from WI State College and Institute of Technology-Platteville in Civil Engineering and worked for the Department of Transportation as a Professional Engineer. He was honored in 2011 with a 50 year pin from the Masonic Lodge.
Bo was united in marriage to his soul mate and love of his life Phyllis J. (Rector) Fry on February 5, 1966 in Stitzer, WI. They eventually made the La Crosse area their home for 37 years.
After retirement in 1990 he worked for FEMA aiding many disaster areas across the country while calling Estes Park, CO home. The endless hours of taking in all that the mountains had to offer were thoroughly enjoyed by all. He loved to travel anyplace and everywhere. He especially loved time at the cabin on the Wisconsin River sharing fishing stories of the past. Many days were spent just watching the water go by. He beloved listening to jazz and Wisconsin sports: Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Loggers.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis of Onalaska; his children, Bradford (Jenifer) and Kevin (Karleen) both of Onalaska; 3 grandchildren (with Grandpa’s nick-names), Kyler (Burrhead), Jenna (Bomb Shell) and Josie (George); and a honorary daughter Sue (Steve) Wolf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Virgil and Kenneth Fry.
Bo’s family would like to extend a thank you to the Gundersen Health System team of many doctors and nurses for the care throughout the years. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Jumonville for his kindness, concern and unique banter of dry humor with Bo during their many visits. Also, thank you to family and friends for the continued support.
To honor Bo’s wishes, a private service will be held with Pastor Park Hunter and Pastor Don Iliff.
Old fisherman never die, they just take their bobber to another fishing hole.
My condolences to the Fry Family. Always enjoyed our conversations when I was at Coulee Bank. A great guy!
