Beverly Gail (Stegen) Stevenson-King

Beverly Gail Stegen-Stevenson-King was born on November 28, 1948, in La Crosse Wisconsin, to Newman and Elizabeth (Betty) (Wensel) Stegen.

Gail was called home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2012 after a long and very difficult battle with cancer. Gail was surrounded by family members when she passed away.

Gail grew up in La Crosse, graduated from Logan High School and has lived in La Crosse all of her life. Gail married “Al” Howard Allan King, on July 24, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Al passed away March 8, 2007, after a very long and courageous battle with cancer, with Gail at his side.

Gail like to play cards and sit around with family and friends. The love of Gail’s life was her two grandchildren, Paige and Tyler.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Neuman in 1998, Betty in 1993, her husband, Al, in 2007, her sister, Sonja Potter in 2002, her niece, Lisa La Due in 2003, her niece, Samantha Jo Cox in 2008, and a special uncle, Butch Wensel, in 2007.

Gail is survived by her son, Wade (Tammy) Stevenson, her two grandchildren, Paige and Tyler Stevenson; her siblings, Sylvia (Dave) La Due, Aurora, IL, Sandra (Paul) Carlson, La Crosse, Anna Berdella La Fleur, La Crosse, Gary Stegen, La Crosse, Geoffrey Stegen, La Crosse, David Stegen, La Crosse, Neuman “Bill” (Kathy) Stegen, Jr., La Crosse, Barbara Jo Rochester, La Crosse, Bonnie (Scott) Kerr, Wautoma, Terry Stegen, Milwaukee, Shellie Stegen, Montgomery, AL, Kimberlie (Jim) Wiegand, Lodi; her aunts, Sylvia Kaufmann, Dianne Wensel, and Martha Roper; nieces and nephews, Gail’s special friend, Donna, and many other relatives and friends.

To keep Gail’s wishes, Gail will be cremated and there will be no service or visitation.

The family would like to thank all the persons that were involved with Gail’s treatment and care: the doctors and nurses at Franciscan Skemp hospital, the caregivers from Hospice, and friends that stopped by to give Gail some comfort.

We love and miss you, Nana Gail.

Gail’s final words to her family and friends, “Remember, I love you guys, and I will be around, so don’t say nothing nasty about me – Ha! Ha!”
