Carol Mae Lee
Carol Mae Lee, 89, of La Crosse passed away peacefully on May 30, 2023.
Carol was born on May 18, 1934 to Helen and Peter Stephan. On October 18, 1953 she married Raymond Lee and had four Children. She worked at The New Villa and Stephan’s Maple Grove where she waited on Elvis. Carol and her husband owned The Sunset Inn, Showboat Lanes, and Showboat North. After retiring Carol worked many years in concessions and catering at The La Crosse Center. She volunteered at RSVP making lap quilts and was recognized for her twenty years of service. She was also involved in Oktoberfest, The Bowling Association, and The Tavern League. Carol loved living in the country with her many miniature horses.
Carol is survived by her daughters Pamela (Robert) Rochester, Lisa (Tom) Lydon, and Jennifer (Troy) Olson. Grandchildren Ryan, Rebecca, Rob, Amanda, Chris, Justin, Rachel, Rustin, Allie, and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robin, brothers Ray, Roy, Robert, and sister Helen.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 4th, 2023 at The Gathering Place, 133 Mason Street, Onalaska. A private family interment will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in La Crosse.
I worked with Carol at the New Villa in the early sixties. I was the first male waitperson they ever hired. She was so supportive and I remember her and Ray as considerate friends. How time flies but memories remain to be treasured.
