Carole Dawn Campbell, 70, of La Crosse, died peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in her home after a brave fight with cancer.

She was born October 24, 1940 in the Township of Wilson in her grandmother’s house. She married Michael Campbell and later divorced.

 

Carole enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping, traveling, creating story picture books and needle work. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Biology from UWL. Carole and Joan Miles owned and operated Rosebud, designing clothing lines and alterations.

 

Carole is survived by her children, Laurie (William Whittemore) Roberts, Dawn (Paul) Kosako, Steven (Leslie) Campbell; grandchildren, Lindsay and Madison Campbell, Kimberly Kosako; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marilyn (Jim) Matysik, Kathy (Fran) Reams, Shark (John) Fredrick; lifelong best friend Joan Miles; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents; and special companion, David Pollack.

 

The family would like to thank the Gundersen Lutheran Hospice Team, especially Laurie Long, and the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center Cancer Center.

 

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 420 West Ave So., La Crosse. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
