Clarence George Meyers

Clarence G. Meyers, 82, of St Joseph Ridge, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse.

He was born in the town of Washington in La Crosse County on November 4, 1932, to Herbert Nicholas Sr and Cecelia Rose (Bechen) Meyers.

He served his country for two years in the US Army in 1952 and 1953.  He received an honorable discharge as Sergeant.

He married Elrita E. Geier on August 20, 1957 at St Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Pine Hollow and was a beloved husband for 57 years.

Clarence’s pride and joy was his family and his passion in life was farming.  He was the third generation on the farm, which he passed down to the fourth.  After his retirement he built his home on the farm.  He loved driving tractor, raking hay, working the fields, and tending to the lawn and flowers.

He was a lifetime member of St Joseph Ridge Catholic Church where he was baptized and received First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

Clarence is survived by his wife, Elrita; three sons, Jeffery, Terry (Dawn) of St Joseph Ridge, Douglas (Joan) of Coon Valley; daughter, Susan (Dave) Lindvig of Barre Mills; grandson, Jake Meyers of Coon Valley; brother, Herbert (Marie) Meyers Jr of La Crosse; sisters, Rita (Roman) Kotek of Middle Ridge, Arlene Breuer of La Crosse; sister in law, Wilma Meyers of St Joseph Ridge, brother in law, Jack Mormann of La Crescent, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eugene Meyers; sister, Marion Mormann, and brother in law, Richard Breuer.

According to Clarence’s wishes a private Christian Funeral Service will be held at a later date with military honors.

Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
