Obituary
Colette D. Solberg
Colette Solberg of Ettrick, WI, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 of influenza while battling Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).
She was born on April 25, 1954 to Arnold and Alvera (Johnson) Solberg. Growing up, she enjoyed being on the family farm with her siblings and large group of cousins. She lived near the family farm most of her life. She attended Wayside one-room schoolhouse in French Creek and graduated from Gale-Ettrick High School (1972). Colette worked at various places throughout her life, mostly in housekeeping positions. She took great pride in cleaning other people’s homes and businesses. She was a lifelong member of French Creek Lutheran Church.
One of her greatest joys was found in her love of dogs. As a child, Colette convinced the Trempealeau County 4H Board to establish its first ever dog obedience program. It was a self-serving endeavor that resulted in her winning multiple awards for showmanship and obedience. As a dog breeder, she delighted in every new litter, watching them grow and thrive before carefully placing them in loving homes where they would bring as much happiness to others as they brought to her.
She is survived by her children: Carina (Scott Linberg) Whitaker, Anessa (Brian) Hughes of Columbia, MD, and Jarod Lorenson; her grandchildren: Kohl, Eden, and Cash Linberg, Liam and Gillian Hughes, Ava and Eliana Bobholz, and Harley and Hudson Lorenson; her sister, Roxanne (Pete) Cavers; sister-in-law, Carol Solberg; many cherished cousins; several nephews and nieces; close friends, including Janie Reineke and Marge Forsythe; and supportive ex-husband Rod Lorenson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronald Solberg; and several cousins.
A funeral will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at 12:00 pm at French Creek Lutheran Church with lunch following; there will be no visitation prior. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating blood to your local Red Cross or making a donation to your local Humane Society.
I remember well the gatherings in Blair, especially at Christmas. Additionally, the many trips to the beautiful farm are memories I’ll hold forever. I feel very fortunate to have known Colette and the rest of the Solberg family. It’s unfortunate that my work took me so far away from my homeland, causing me to miss opportunities to see family. I wish peace for the Solberg family and will keep all in my prayers. Condolences to all who loved Colette.
Roxanne and family –

Colette was such a sweet person, I hope your wonderful memories of her will ease the sadness.
