David Allan Huffman

David Allan Huffman, 68 of West Salem/LaCrosse formerly of Reedsburg, WI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday February 2 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born on November 23rd, 1944 to Fred and Sylvia (Cox) Huffman. He married Karen Jostad and together they had four children, later divorced. On April 23rd, 1977 he married Vicki Lynn Pickering formerly of Galesville. Together they raised Tim and Tony Pickering and in 1995 they adopted Leif and JT Huffman.

He and Vicki spent many years playing league pool and darts and playing in many local, state and national tournaments. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved to watch his beloved Packers play football and cooking with ideas from the Food Network, also experimenting with homemade seasonings in the smokehouse with his special helpers Dakota, Bryce and Cale. He was also a Scout leader for many years guiding Tim and Tony all the way through Eagle Scouts, in the process formed life long bonds with other scouts and families. He worked for Harry Viner Inc. for nearly 30 years

He is survived by his loving wife, adopted grandsons, Leif and JT, sons Tony (Amy) Pickering and children, Tim Pickering (Lori Brownell) and children all from Galesville, David Jr. of Mauston and Rick (Tanya) of Rushford, MN, daughters, Nicole of Mauston and Dawn of Onalaska, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Four sisters, Darlene (Dean) Fish, Maxine (David) Liebersbach, Marlene Rogers, Betty Gates (Charles Crocker). Aunts, Harriet Fortun, Judy Redipenny, Jean Cox. Three brothers, William (Edna) Huffman, Dale Huffman (Laura), Dennis Huffman (Lisa), Special Sister-in-law, Sharon Huffman, Sister-in-law Joan (Darrell) Voss and brother-in-law Norman Pickering.

Preceded in death by his father and mother a sister, Freda, three brothers, Larry, Jackie and James and a great-grand daughter Ashley.

Vicki would like to extend a thank you out to Nancy Sackmaster, Loretta Mooney, Judy Sager and the Hewines family for holding a special place in their hearts over the years. Also the Gundersen Lutheran Staff especially the CCU staff.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska. The Rev. Dana Jackson will officiate. Please dress casual. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
