Delores Berzinski Hanson passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born on July 31, 1925, in the Township of Gale, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin. She was the sixth of 13 children born to Olga (Louis) Berzinski and Olga (Ralph) Bautch. Her father, Louis Berzinski, died when Delores was five years old.

At the age of 19, in 1944, Delores traveled by bus to Alameda, California, to join her soon-to-be husband, Charles T. Hanson, who was stationed at NAS Alameda, California. They were married on September 22, 1944.

While employed as a clerk at Sears, Roebuck and Company, Delores was told to report to the Defense Plant. She worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” for about one year. One of her jobs involved running a roller and rolling steel for five-gallon pails. Throughout her life, Delores worked as a cleaning lady and held factory and greenhouse jobs. She also owned and operated Chuck and Dee’s Bar in Mindoro, Wisconsin.

In retirement, she and Charles did odd jobs, including cleaning offices, preparing apartments for rental, painting, and repair work.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking yearly trips to Las Vegas, going for rides in the country, doing word-search puzzles, and playing cards with family and friends.

Delores and Charles were married for 71½ years until his death on April 16, 2016. Their first child, Victoria Joy, died shortly after birth in 1946.

Delores is survived by her sons, Duane (Nancy), Dean (Judy), and Curt, and her daughter, Debra, with whom she lived for more than nine years after Charles’ death.

She is also survived by her sisters, Kay (Laverne) Smikrud; six grandchildren, Todd (Suzanne) Hanson, Stacey (Scott) Davis, Amy (Matt) McNally, Nicole (Travis) Gruenwald, Troy (Ashlyn) Hanson, and Cody (Tricia) Hanson; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her daughter, Victoria; her brothers, Raymond Berzinski and Donald Bautch; and her sisters and in-laws: Edna (Robert) Allen, Agnes (Clarence) Koelbl, Blanche (Phil) Morkwed, Marion (Richard) Hull, Marva Lou (Howard) Becker, Ailene (Howard) Amundson, Charlene Rossin, Ardis (Frances) Sesvold, and Beverly Schultz.

The family will receive friends 10–11:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Lunch will be served at the Holmen Legion Hall after the Mass.

Rest in peace, Delores. You will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew you.
