Desmond L Olson

Desmond L. Olson, 56, of Sparta, WI passed away peacefully at his home on September 24, 2016 with his companion, Maxine B. Smith by his side.  He was born on November 25, 1959 to Carl J. and Phyllis (Baker) Olson.  He grew up in Sparta.

Desi loved to go fishing every chance he had and also loved camping, the Packers, Nascar and deer hunting.  He worked at MultiStack in Sparta for the past few years, and prior to that worked at PPC, Pooh Bear Painting and Sparta Manufacturing.

Desi was preceded in death by his parents, paternal grandparents, Carl L. and Ruth Olson, maternal grandparents, Alfred and Mildred Baker and a nephew, Darin Olson.  Surviving are his companion Max of 10 years, sister Jill (Tom) Vian, brothers Ron (Monica), Greg, Bruce (Vicki), and Bryan (Cathy).

The family would like to thank the staff at Gundersen Oncology, Gundersen Hospice and S.A.C.S.  Memorials may be directed to S.A.C.S., PO Box 130, Sparta, WI 54656.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life at the Lakeview Supper Club (former VFW Club) in Sparta on October 12, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be held at a later date.  Coulee Cremation is assisting the family.

    I am so very saddened to read of Desi’s passing at such a young age. My heart goes out to his partner, his family, and his closest friends.
