Obituary
Dolores “Dee Dee” Mae (Dunlap) Hemker
Dolores “Dee Dee” Mae (Dunlap) Hemker, 68, of West Salem, Wisconsin, passed away on March 28, 2026.
Born on September 6, 1957, to Sylvia (Ferris) and Richard Dunlap, Dee Dee attended West Salem High School, graduating in 1975. A few years after graduation, she met her future husband, Terry Hemker, and they soon started a life together that would last until his passing in 2023.
Dee Dee was a lifelong Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan. Many weekends were spent at her home with family, watching football games, or listening to music while hitting golf balls on the lawn, playing euchre and darts. Laughter and the creation of lifelong memories were always abundant.
Dee Dee’s greatest joys in life were spending time outdoors–whether fishing, hunting or merely observing the deer. She was particularly good at taming cats, raising many that happened to find the way to her home. She loved anything that sparkled, and her personality shone even brighter.
Dolores is survived by her daughter, Tina Swift; her grandchildren Savannah and Brandon Swift; her sisters Jeannette Leece, Ruth Hanson, Irene Sargent, Mary Mohring, brother Mervin Dunlap; her son-in-law Tim Swift; her brothers-in-law Gregg Leece, Dave Hanson, Jim Hemker, Fred Pierson, Tom Garbers; and her sisters-in-law Vicky Dunlap, Karla Pierson, Bonnie Garbers, Bev Olson and Mary Ann Hemker. She is also survived by many special family members, each of whom shared a unique and special bond with her. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
In death she will be reunited with her husband, Terry; her parents, Sylvia and Richard; her brothers Ron and Dick Dunlap; her sister Barb Lewis; her brothers-in-law Gary Sargent, Clay Lewis, Doug Mohring and Duane Olson; and her sister-in-law Diane Dunlap.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Silverado Saloon in West Salem.
Dee Dee will be remembered for her love of family and the lasting memories she created with those she loved. Watch for deer.
