Donald Leroy Burdick, 84, of New Lisbon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in the Tomah Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

He was born February 4, 1926 to Benny and Mabel (Van Duzee) Burdick in Oakdale, WI.

 

He was an avid motorcycle rider,  bowlerand cribage player.  He was  a US Marine Corp WWII veteran from 1944-1946 in the 6^th Marine division in Okinawa. Donald was a wonderful husband, loviang father, and will be a much missed friend and neighbor.

 

Donald is survived by his daughter, Linda (Peter) Jurkas; son, Dan (Laura) Burdick; 5 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Glida Bidar; many extended relatives and friends.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife; Jean S. Burdick, his  parents,  and brother, Melvin Burdick.

 

Donald’s family wished to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the Tomah and Madison VA Medical Centers.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 1:00PM at the Necedah United Methodist Church, 605 N. Harvey St., Necedah, WI. The Rev. Stephanie Taylor Homann will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family.
