Donna Mae Halverson

Donna Mae Halverson, 82, of La Crosse, WI, passed away Thursday December 27, 2012 in La Crosse, WI.

She was born November 25, 1930 on the family farm in Soldiers Grove, WI.

Donna graduated from Soldiers Grove High School in 1948 and was the first girl elected as class president.

She married Richard Halverson on June 5, 1950 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2010.

Donna held a variety of jobs from working on a mink farm, apple packer, and as an insurance clerk at various La Crosse Clinics until she retired in 1997.

Donna is survived by Richard (Julie) Halverson, Nic and Adam, Marion, IN; Michael Halverson, Hannah, Emily, and Rachel, Atlanta, GA; Sarah (Kurt)Wolff, Naomi, Noah and Leah, Middleton, WI.; Daniel Halverson and Houston, Eitzen, MN. She is also survived by her sisters, Vivian Eagan, Prairie du Chien, WI., Jackie Cremin, Janesville, WI., and Sharon (Steve) Maloney, Black River, NY., along with many nieces and nephews.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed collecting antiques, all kinds of music and dancing. Donna was a devoted follower of conservative politics. Donna liked to travel and spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was also a big Packer and Badger fan.

She was preceded in death by Earl Lenox (father), Chloe Lenox (mother), Richard Halverson (husband), Terry Lenox (brother), Margie Bock (sister) who joined her in heaven on the same day.

Donna’s ashes will be interred with her husband at the cemetery in Gays Mills, WI.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at the Coulee Region Cremation Group, 133 Mason St., Onalaska, WI. Times will be announced at a date closer to the service.  Online condolences may be left at www.couleecremation.com, memorials may be made to the family.

    i met donna’s son dan working on the science center@uwl.years ago, after that i got to know donna&richard&houston.donna was a nice warm loving woman,i got a”chuckle” out of her&richard having disagreements over simple everyday things.i also liked how she loved her football&other sports.my sympathy to all her family&friends……

    Dear Rich & Julie,Michael, Sarah & Kurt, Danny and Houston. I am so sorry to learn about your mom passing away in December! I was at her apartment in October and then had not talked to her since but somehow we always caught up with each other over the years. I worked with her at Gundersen clinic in the insurance department. I’m in such shock as I just heard today that she had passed away.
