Douglas Arthur Arneson
Douglas Arthur Arneson, 86, of La Crosse, died Tuesday, Nov 27, 2012 at Hillview Nursing Home in La Crosse, surrounded by his family.
Doug was born April 20, 1926 in La Crosse to Arthur and Wilma Arneson. He went to Central High School, paused to serve in the Navy, stationed in the Philippines during World War II and later obtained his G.E.D.
On August 26, 1951, he married Marjorie Wehling.
Doug worked 40 years at Dairyland Power in La Crosse, as a surveyor, and later as a statistician. Among his many accomplishments in business, he worked with his wife, Marge, for 50 years as owner/managers of Arneson Storage & Apartments.
Doug and Marge enjoyed several years of boating, skiing and just play on the Mississippi. They also loved sailing into their seventies and were members of the La Crosse Sail Boat Club.
Throughout their many travels in life, they always loved their home they built, La Crosse and their church.
Doug is survived by his wife Marjorie of La Crosse, two sons, Gary (Catherine) of La Crosse, and Steven (Nancy) of Ogden, Utah, 4 grandchildren, Alicia Arneson of La Crosse, Tessa (Tim) Watcke, Chase Arneson, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Tori (Skyler) Hitz, Fort Collins, Colorado . . .and of course Sampson, his favorite cat.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:30 am at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 West Ave. So., La Crosse. Rev. Roger Sachs will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the service at the church on Friday. Coulee Region Cremation Group is assisting the family. Online condolences may be left at www.couleecremation.com.

Husband, Father, & Grandpa, carried his wit and humor ‘til the end . . . we love you – see you on the other side.
I worked at Dairyland Power from 1979-1985 and enjoyed knowing Doug very much. He had such a sharp wit. He was already ready with a joke. He was a devoted family man and always spoke highly of his sons and his wife. My world was made better by having known Doug. I extend my sympathies to the Arneson family.
